The Château Mouton Rothschild 1998, a jewel of Pauillac, blends Cabernet Sauvignon (86%) and Merlot on gravelly soils. Aged in new barrels, it offers notes of blackcurrant, undergrowth and spices, with firm tannins. Perfect with a goose stew, it will improve over 20 years after decanting.

Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild 1998
To the eye – A garnet-brick color, deep and luminous, where one senses the density of a wine that has patiently matured in the cellar.
On the nose – First aromas of blackcurrant cream and dried roses, then more enveloping notes of hoisin sauce and soft spices, before ending on a mineral touch of undergrowth and incense.
On the palate – A silky texture, carried by a lively acidity and a firm yet velvety tannic framework, where dried cherries, blackberries and a subtle saltiness mingle, for a finish of remarkable length.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to reveal all its purity.
