The Champagne Papillon Brut Nature 2022 from Ruppert-Leroy, born on the clay-limestone soils of the Aube, is a Pinot Noir aged without sulfur. Its notes of apple and citrus, its minerality, and its saline finish make it an ideal companion for oysters through 2038.
A family estate rooted in Essoyes, where respect for living things has guided every gesture for generations.
- Terroir: Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils, rich in marine fossils, shaping champagnes of saline minerality and great purity.
- Vinification: Natural method – indigenous yeasts, aging on fine lees, with no added sulfur and no filtration, for vibrant and authentic cuvées.
Tasting notes for Ruppert-Leroy Papillon Brut Nature R22
Appearance – Pale golden robe, threaded by a fine and persistent effervescence, like a veil of silk over chalky light.
On the nose – Aromas of crunchy apple and Williams pear, followed by candied citrus, a delicate floral touch, and a saline minerality reminiscent of the marine fossils of the terroir.
On the palate – Lively and precise attack, carried by a taut acidity and a creamy texture; the minerality stretches into a long, saline, and chiseled finish where freshness and depth intertwine.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a tall flute or a white wine glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2022
A vintage marked by vibrant energy and preserved freshness, despite the climatic challenges of the year.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed until 2038, provided it is stored away from light and temperature fluctuations, ideally between 12 and 14°C.
