The Pétrus 2017 Magnum from Petrus, shaped on the blue clay of Pomerol, expresses the quintessence of Merlot. Its bouquet of cherry, violet and spices, supported by oak aging, offers a silky and mineral palate. To keep for 20 years or more, it pairs beautifully with game and truffles.
Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for generations, driven by an exceptional terroir and an uncompromising pursuit of purity.
- Terroir : Iron-rich blue clay from the Pomerol plateau, a unique soil that sculpts wines of rare mineral density and depth.
- Vinification : Patient aging in oak barrels, where the Merlot reveals its silky texture and aromatic complexity, without artifice.
Tasting Notes for Pétrus 2017 Magnum
To the eye – A deep purple robe with garnet reflections, of velvety density and crystalline brilliance, like a ruby polished by time.
On the nose – First aromas of black cherry and crushed raspberry, followed by notes of faded violet, soft licorice and a saline touch reminiscent of the terroir's damp clay.
On the palate – A silky attack, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, where the tannins, both taut and melting, stretch into a long and spiced finish, marked by nuances of cocoa and black truffle.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2017
A vintage of balance, where cool nights preserved the brilliance of the fruit, while a warm summer concentrated the tannins into an elegant structure.
- Aging potential : 20 to 30 years, to be stored in a cellar at a stable temperature (12–14°C) away from light.
