One of the safe bets in Champagne
The Champagne house Deutz was founded in 1838 by William Deutz, and remained in the family fold for a century and a half until its acquisition in 1993 by the house Louis Roederer (Rouzaud family, which also owns the château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande in Pauillac in the Bordeaux region, as well as Maison Delas in the Rhône). The Deutz house is located very close to Epernay, in Ay, the birthplace of pinot noir. The emblematic cuvées of the Deutz house are: Amour de Deutz, William Deutz, the vintage Brut blanc de blancs Champagne, and of course the "Brut Classic", which alone accounts for nearly 85% of Deutz Champagne's total production.
With a superb heritage of vines, Deutz ensures (through its own vineyard and contracts with partner winegrowers, 80% of which are Grand cru or Premier cru) an unwavering quality of supply and production to produce more than 2 million bottles per year. The Deutz house offers high-quality white Champagnes that are refined, precise, and distinguished; given the volume produced and the fairly broad range, the consistency across the entire production is remarkable, from the Deutz Brut Classic to the prestige cuvées such as Champagne William Deutz, Amour de Deutz, and the Hommage à William Deutz cuvée. The Brut Classic is strongly pinot noir in character, yet remains elegant and easy to drink. The "Rosé Classic" plays in a register of crisp red fruits, with a precise finish and vinosity without heaviness, with fine tension. A high level of rosé Champagne. "Amour de Deutz" in the 2009 vintage is ample and sun-drenched, with creamy notes. Round and precise, on notes of zest, its finish and depth are exemplary. The vintage Champagne William Deutz 2009 is a clear success (in the image of the 1999, 2002, 2006). With a very high precision of texture, the fruit is distinguished and very long. With a long, sapid and saline finish, its persistence is exceptional. The William Deutz rosé cuvée in its best vintages can border on the genius of a truly great Champagne at the peak of its maturity and fullness. Its refinement is a genuine delight, absolutely to be reserved for the grandest occasions. Under the stewardship of its President Fabrice Rosset, the Deutz house seems to be continuing its journey to the pinnacle of Champagne production, and one can only recommend its wines.
