The Irancy appellation designates red wines produced in the village of Irancy and its surroundings, in the Yonne, in Burgundy. These wines, primarily made from the Pinot Noir grape, derive their unique character from an exceptional terroir composed of Jurassic limestone and clay soils, as well as well-exposed slopes in an amphitheater formation. Recognized for their finesse and elegance, Irancy wines offer intense aromas of red fruits, such as cherry, often enhanced with spicy or floral notes. Although the César grape, typical of the region, may be added in small proportions, its use is now rare. Officially recognized in 1999, the Irancy AOC embodies traditional winemaking expertise and appeals to lovers of authentic Burgundy wines.
