Tasting notes for Pétrus 1981
To the eye – A deep garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and a brilliance preserved by the decades.
On the nose – Aromas of candied black cherry, autumn truffle, gentle spices and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a chalky minerality.
On the palate – A velvety and full-bodied texture, carried by a lively acidity and mineral tension, with notes of ripe dark fruits and a long, harmonious and persistent finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its bouquet.
