The Pétrus 2003, a rare wine from Pomerol, reveals its black clay terroir. This Merlot (96%), aged in new barrels, offers notes of black fruits, chocolate and spices. Its silky and mineral palate is an ideal match for red meats and will continue to improve until 2035.
Nestled in the heart of Pomerol, Pétrus embodies the excellence of a unique terroir and a viticultural heritage passed down with rigour.
- Terroir: Rare and deep black clay soils shape wines of incomparable density and minerality, reflecting the soul of this Bordeaux appellation.
- Vinification: A meticulous plot-by-plot selection and ageing in new barrels reveal the purity of Merlot, combining power and elegance in every cuvée.
Tasting notes for Pétrus 2003
To the eye – A deep purple robe with garnet reflections, of a silky density and a crystalline brilliance, heralding a generous and precise matter.
On the nose – An enchanting bouquet where ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant), notes of violet and liquorice intermingle, before a touch of roasted cocoa and a subtle salinity come to envelop the whole.
On the palate – A velvety, almost unctuous texture, carried by a lively acidity and a melted tannic framework, while a chalky minerality extends the finish in a saline and persistent length.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
