Ripeau 2009
Château Ripeau, located in Saint-Émilion in the Bordeaux region, is a historic estate managed by the Grégoire family since 2015, following ownership by the Loubat family, famed for Petrus. Spanning 16.1 hectares and classified as a Grand Cru, this vineyard thrives on sandy, gravelly, and clay soils. The Ripeau 2009 cuvée, a still red wine under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, blends approximately 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged for 12 to 16 months in oak barrels, some new.
On tasting, this wine reveals a deep ruby hue and a rich nose of ripe black fruits, such as blackcurrant, with hints of vanilla and tobacco. On the palate, it delivers a velvety texture, well-integrated tannins, and a long finish, marked by spicy and mineral notes. Perfect with beef fillet or matured cheese, the Ripeau 2009 captivates with its balanced maturity and classic Bordeaux elegance.
