This Gevrey-Chambertin 2019 from Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair, born on clay-limestone soils, combines whole clusters and oak barrels (40% new). Red fruits, liquorice and a mineral touch compose its palette. Ready from 2024 or to cellar through 2039, it pairs sublimely with game and rich dishes.
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
A family estate rooted in the Côte de Nuits, where Burgundian tradition dialogues with biodynamic viticulture to reveal the purity of the terroirs.
– Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and marls of Gevrey-Chambertin, where Pinot Noir expresses power and minerality.
– Winemaking: Barrel-aged in oak, with a balance of whole clusters and destemmed grapes, for precise and elegant wines.
Tasting notes for Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Gevrey-Chambertin La Croix des Champs 2019
To the eye: A deep ruby robe with garnet reflections, of a silky and luminous texture, heralding a dense and velvety substance.
On the nose: Initially restrained, it opens onto aromas of wild strawberry and black cherry, then deepens towards notes of liquorice, blonde tobacco and a saline touch, like an echo of the chalky soils of the terroir.
On the palate: A frank and taut attack, where a lively acidity carries fine, tight tannins, while a chalky minerality structures a long and persistent finish marked by nuances of cocoa and candied fruit.
Serve at 14–16°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 2019
A sunny and balanced vintage, where the summer heat concentrated the fruit without compromising freshness, yielding full-bodied and structured wines.
– Ageing potential: To be enjoyed from 2024, with a peak expected between 2028 and 2039; store in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
