The Château Troplong Mondot 1982, Premier Grand Cru Classé B of Saint-Émilion, is born from a clay-limestone terroir. Its aromas of leather, spices and mushroom unite with a lively, tannic palate. Perfect with game or aged cheese, it combines elegance and complexity.
Nestled on the clay-limestone slopes of Saint-Émilion, this estate embodies the demanding nature of an exceptional terroir and the transmission of family know-how.
- Terroir: Chalky soils and deep clays of the Saint-Émilion appellation, giving the wines a distinctive minerality and an elegant structure.
- Vinification: Meticulous aging in oak barrels, combining tradition and precision to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Troplong Mondot 1982
To the eye: Garnet robe with tawny highlights, silky in texture and clear, revealing nearly four decades of evolution.
On the nose: Aromas of damp undergrowth, aged leather, wild mushroom and sun-dried tomato, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of liquorice.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, tannins still present but well integrated, supported by a chalky acidity and a long finish marked by notes of tobacco and gentle spices.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1982
Considered one of the great Bordeaux vintages, 1982 combines fruit ripeness and structural balance, offering today a tertiary aromatic palette of rare elegance.
- Aging potential: Drink now or cellar for a further 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
