The Château Troplong Mondot 1982, from the clay-limestone soils of Saint-Émilion, is an age-worthy wine with complex aromas of candied fruit, leather, and spices. Blended with 90% Merlot, it offers a velvety texture and a chalky minerality. Perfect to accompany sauced meats or truffles.
Nestled on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, this historic estate has combined family tradition with viticultural excellence since the 17th century.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and Agenais molasse, scattered with flint, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and an elegant structure.
- Vinification: Meticulous aging for cuvées in which Merlot dominates, marrying power and finesse, with hand harvesting and sustainable farming practices.
Tasting notes for Château Troplong Mondot 1982
To the eye: A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, dense and slightly veiled by time, revealing a silky texture and a rare depth.
On the nose: Aromas of candied prune, blond tobacco, and aged leather intertwine with notes of damp undergrowth and a saline touch, evoking the flint stones of the terroir.
On the palate: A velvety attack, supported by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, giving way to a long and persistent finish where gentle spices and dried fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its tertiary aromas.
