The Troplong Mondot 1979, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B from Saint-Émilion, comes from clay-limestone soils. On the nose: Aromas of candied blackcurrant, sweet liquorice, aged cedar and damp undergrowth, lifted by a saline note and a hint of blond tobacco.
On the palate: Velvety yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long, spiced finish where notes of leather and dark fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
