The Troplong Mondot 2009, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, is born on clay-limestone soil. This Merlot-based wine, aged in oak barrels, reveals notes of dark fruits, vanilla and spices. Powerful and elegant, it captivates with its silky tannins. Ideal now alongside red meats or game.
Château Troplong Mondot
On the clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, this family estate embodies the excellence of Right Bank wines, blending tradition and precision.
- Terroir: 33 hectares of clay-limestone soils, cradle of the appellation's great Merlots, where minerality and freshness are expressed with elegance.
- Winemaking: Aged in new oak barrels, with respect for natural cycles and a pursuit of pure fruit expression, under the expert guidance of Michel Rolland.
Tasting notes for Château Troplong Mondot 2009
To the eye – A deep, dense and silky purple robe, with dancing violet reflections, heralding a generous character and beautiful concentration.
On the nose – A bouquet of great complexity, where notes of wild blackberry and blackcurrant intertwine with hints of cedar, roasted vanilla and a saline edge, the signature of the chalky terroir.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a mineral tension and fine yet present tannins, stretching into a long, fruity finish where hints of soft spices and a touch of liquorice can be discerned.
Serve between 16°C and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full aromatic range.
Vintage 2009
A sunny and generous vintage, in which summer heat ripened the grapes to perfection, yielding a wine that is both powerful and balanced.
- Aging potential: Enjoyable now, yet capable of improving until 2030, provided it is stored under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
