This Château Troplong Mondot 1982, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion, comes from clay-limestone soils rich in flint. With 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc, it combines dark fruits, minerality, and freshness. Ideal with lamb or a cheese board.
Nestled on the heights of Saint-Émilion, this historic estate embodies the elegance of an exceptional terroir, shaped by four centuries of expertise.
- Terroir : 43 hectares of Agenais molasse, scattered with flint and pebbles, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and a unique depth.
- Vinification : A considered approach, combining tradition and precision, for cuvées in which Merlot dominates, revealing the full complexity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Troplong Mondot 1982
To the eye: a deep red robe, almost opaque, with tawny highlights, betraying a dense texture and a generous substance.
On the nose: aromas of wild blackberry and ripe blackcurrant intertwine with notes of cedar, blond tobacco, and a subtle hint of graphite, evoking the stony soils of the estate.
On the palate: a silky attack gives way to a fine yet present tannic structure, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, leading to a long and slightly saline finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
