The Vieux Château Certan 2002, from Pomerol, blends Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon on clay-gravel soils. Aged in oak barrels, it seduces with its aromas of blackcurrant and tobacco and a velvety, mineral and persistent palate. Perfect until 2036 or with a duck breast.
A family estate rooted at the heart of Pomerol, where the viticultural heritage has been passed down for nearly three centuries.
- Terroir: 14 hectares of clayey gravel and deep sands, typical of the Pomerol appellation, giving the wines a mineral elegance and a rare depth.
- Vinification: A precise blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, patiently aged in oak barrels to reveal a silky structure and aromatic complexity.
Tasting notes for Vieux Château Certan 2002
To the eye – A garnet red robe with deep reflections, dense and luminous, betraying a generous substance and accomplished maturity.
On the nose – A bouquet where aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry first emerge, followed by deeper notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and a saline touch, like an echo of the gravelly terroir.
On the palate – A velvety, almost silky texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, while melted tannins support a long and precise finish, where hints of liquorice and soft spices linger.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its complexity.
Vintage 2002

- Aging potential: To be enjoyed until 2036, provided it is stored under optimal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity and away from light).
