Domaine Bruno Clavelier is located in Vosne Romanée in Burgundy, and has a vineyard of 6.5 hectares, of which nearly 5.9 ha are dedicated to red Burgundies. One of the main assets of Domaine Bruno Clavelier is a heritage of old vines, replanted mostly after the phylloxera crisis in the 1930s and 1940s. Bruno Clavelier took over in 1987, succeeding his grandfather. Domaine Clavelier is certified in Organic Farming by Ecocert and has practiced biodynamics since 1996, in its approach to vine cultivation.

Bruno Clavelier says that he does not determine the gustatory profile of the wines alone, but that he simply tries to capture what the vintage's climate and the terroir of each plot have brought specifically to the grapes each year. The grapes produced are concentrated, healthy and balanced, particularly in terms of acidity, which is essential to preserve the finesse of these great Burgundy wines. Bruno Clavelier is an advocate of traditional winemaking, carried out in open truncated-cone-shaped oak vats, sized to suit each cuvée. He retains up to 30% whole clusters depending on the cru and the profile of the vintage. The aging of the Clavelier crus lasts from 16 to 18 months in fine-grained oak barrels from the Tronçais forest in the Allier. The percentage of new barrels is approximately one third for the Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru and the six Premier Cru wines of the Clavelier estate: Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Noirots, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras, and slightly less for the village appellations, namely Vosne-Romanée "Les Hauts de Beaux Monts", Vosne-Romanée "La Combe Brûlée", Vosne-Romanée "La Montagne", and Vosne-Romanée "Hautes Maizières". The toasting is gentle and long. In order to preserve aromatic finesse and minimize sulfur additions, no racking is performed during aging and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. On tasting, the wines range from a broad, fresh substance with a mineral brilliance enveloped in suave tannins in the Vosne-Romanée La Combe Brûlée, to the full yet velvety flesh, tinged with energy and fine acidity of a Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux. Ripe and suave substance with silky tannins in the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Brûlées, full of vitality, with a smoky note. The Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts is enveloping and offers a superb consistency whose soft, finely spiced fruit is very seductive. The Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau (located just above the Petits Musigny) develops a superb nose of rose and peony (pot pourri), as well as a caressing, unctuous and fresh attack complemented by an airy and subtle finish. Finally, soft yet taut flesh, intensity and voluptuousness characterize the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras — a wine of perfect harmony. Among the Burgundy Grand Crus from Bruno Clavelier, the Corton Rognet Grand Cru is a broad and precise wine, with silky and crunchy tannins, very complete without the usual rusticity of the appellation.
