History of Domaine des Miroirs - Kenjiro Kagami

Of Japanese origin and trained as an engineer, Kenjiro Kagami decided to settle in France in 2001. A year later, having worked hard to learn French, he embarked on a winemaking course in Burgundy. At the end of his studies in 2004, he worked for a year with Thierry Allemand in Cornas. Then, from 2005 to 2010, it was with Bruno Schueller that he deepened his craft as a winegrower.

The desire to produce his own wine became ever stronger… With the support of the celebrated Jean-François Ganevat, a true star of the Jura, Kenjiro Kagami purchased his own wine estate in Grusse. His vines are located just below one of Ganevat's plots.

He named it Domaine des Miroirs, an obvious choice since "Kagami" means "mirror" in Japanese and he wished to shape the estate in his own image!

Kenjiro Kagami was a pioneer among the Japanese who settled in France to produce living wines and launched this hype!

Terroirs, Vines and Vinification of Domaine des Miroirs - Kenjiro Kagami

The estate covers 3 hectares on steep limestone soils! 1.5 hectares of Chardonnay, 1 hectare of Savagnin, 40 ares of Poulsard and 20 ares of Trousseau. Production volumes are therefore very small!

The vines are lovingly tended and cared for: the simplest possible vinification, without sulphur, without additives, in vat or in barrel to produce highly expressive natural wines! 4 to 5 years in the cellar do them a world of good.

The cuvées of Domaine des Miroirs - Kenjiro Kagami

Discover magnificent cuvées such as Entre Deux Bleus Les Saugettes, Entre Deux Bleus Innés, Mizuiro Les Saugettes, Mon Rythme Son Rythme, Ja Do, Ja Nai, Sonorité du Vent and I need the sun, which magnify the vinified grape varieties

Unfortunately, 80% of production is directly exported to Japan! It is therefore rare to find these bottles… Rarity and Excellence have thus driven up the prices of this legendary Jura estate.

The wines of Jura are currently booming and the names of certain renowned winegrowers are turning heads: Pierre Overnoy, Jacques Puffeney, Jean Francois Ganevat, Jean Bourdy, Jean Macle, Pignier, Tissot, Domaine de la Pinte… These essential names are purists, in pursuit of the purest expression of their terroir, notably by working the vines using organic/biodynamic farming. The Jura winegrowers are the most organic in France, working in a collective spirit.

Taste without further delay the wines of the Jura from the dynamic young generation: Domaine des Miroirs, Julien Labet, Domaine du Pélican (the second estate of the Marquis d'Angerville, the eponymous owner in Volnay), Renaud Bruyère et Adeline Houillon...

Discover the exceptional vintages of the white wines and red wines of the Jura: 1989, 1990 and 2005, followed by 1988, 1991, 2000, 2009, 2010, 2011
