Domaine Auguste Clape
A family estate rooted in the steep hillsides of Cornas, where Syrah has expressed itself with rare authenticity for nearly two centuries.
- Terroir: granitic and schistose soils of the Cornas appellation, in the northern Rhône Valley, imparting a distinctive minerality and a precise tannic structure to the wines.
- Vinification: traditional methods, ageing in barrels to preserve the purity of the fruit and the natural tension of the variety.
Tasting notes for Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas Renaissance 2021
To the eye: a deep garnet robe, of a silky density, where light reflects with an almost mineral intensity.
On the nose: aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry intertwine with notes of fresh violet, a touch of liquorice and a subtle chalky salinity, reminiscent of the granitic soils of the terroir.
On the palate: a velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a taut minerality, stretching into a long and elegant finish where gentle spices and ripe fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to reveal its full complexity.
