Clos Rougeard
A family estate rooted in Chacé, in Anjou, where time has been sculpting wines of rare precision since 1664.
- Terroir: chalky soils of Brézé, in the AOC Saumur appellation, where limestone imprints a vibrant minerality onto the Chenin Blanc.
- Vinification: patient ageing in barrels, respecting natural rhythms, for cuvées of silky tension and crystalline purity.
Tasting notes for Clos Rougeard Saumur Brézé 2009
To the eye: a golden robe with pale highlights, of silky limpidity, like the gleam of stone polished by centuries.
On the nose: aromas of ripe quince, acacia blossom and candied lemon zest, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of warm flint.
On the palate: a dense and vibrant texture, carried by a taut acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a saline and persistent finish.
Serve between 10 and 12 °C, in a Burgundy-style white wine glass, to fully release its complexity.
