Domaine A. et P. de Villaine, located in Bouzeron, the first village of the Côte Chalonnaise south of Beaune, is one of the essential references in Burgundy wines. Founded in 1971 by Aubert and Pamela de Villaine (Aubert also being the historic co-manager of the legendary Domaine de la Romanée-Conti), it is today run by their nephew Pierre de Benoist since 2001. Spanning nearly 30 hectares cultivated using certified organic farming and biodynamics, this exceptional estate showcases three emblematic grape varieties (golden Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) through cuvées of a purity, minerality and elegance acclaimed by critics worldwide.

The entire domaine de Villaine has been converted to organic farming since 1986, and has banned synthetic products in order to guarantee a natural balance in the vineyard. The philosophy of the domaine de Villaine is to express the terroir in its most accurate and sincere form. The domaine de Villaine now covers 36 hectares of vines (with 3 grape varieties: Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) following several parcel acquisitions, in Saint Aubin 1er cru, and in Rully. The wine range consists of 12 references: the Aligoté Bouzeron cuvée, 3 Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise cuvées (2 red Bourgognes + 1 white Bourgogne), 5 Rully cuvées (3 premiers crus + 1 village white + 1 Rully premier cru red), 1 St Aubin 1er cru white cuvée, 1 Mercurey red and finally 1 Santenay 1er cru red. The high quality of the domaine de Villaine wines is praised by critics. The domaine de Villaine uses few new barrels so as not to impart too much oak to the wines, which would mask the aromatic purity of the grape variety and terroir. As a result, the white wines of the domaine de Villaine are highly aromatic with rich, vibrant and mineral palates of great length. The red wines are fresh, refined and perfectly balanced. It can be said that the wines of the Domaine de Villaine display a great deal of energy and power, in a style of great purity. Even in rich, sun-drenched vintages such as 2015 and 2018, balance remains paramount and the terroir always makes itself felt. The wines of the domaine de Villaine are juicy and expressive, combining fine substance with a broad mineral signature.
