Douge Fleur de Gaillet Extra Brut 2019 from Champagne Douge comes from Neuville-sur-Seine in the Côte des Bar. Aged 56 months in oak, this Chardonnay combines lemon, clementine, honey and cultured buttermilk. Its enveloping palate and lively bubbles lead to a lightly bitter finish. Drink now with seafood.
A family-run house rooted in Neuville-sur-Seine in the Côte des Bar, where time shapes terroir-driven vintage champagnes of rare purity.
- Terroir: Chalky and clay-limestone soils of the Côte des Bar, home to some of Champagne’s tautest, most mineral Chardonnays.
- Winemaking: Extended aging on the lees, Extra-Brut dosage and respect for natural cycles produce cuvées with saline precision and silky elegance.
Tasting notes for Champagne Douge Fleur de Gaillet Extra Brut 2019
To the eye: A pale gold hue with green highlights and crystalline clarity, threaded with fine, persistent bubbles like morning dew on leaves.
On the nose: Fresh citrus—lime and candied clementine—intertwines with acacia honey and fresh butter, before a saline, almost iodine-like touch recalls the terroir’s chalky soils.
On the palate: A lively, precise opening supported by taut acidity that unfolds into a silky, almost creamy texture, followed by a long, mineral finish with a slight bitterness reminiscent of orange peel.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a narrow champagne flute to concentrate the aromas.
