Vintage Extra Brut Françoise Bedel Âme de la Terre 2008 comes from the clay-limestone soils of Crouttes-sur-Marne. A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, it is made using enamel-lined tanks and oak barrels, yielding saline minerality and notes of toasted brioche and citrus. Aged 14 years on the lees, its chalky texture pairs with lobster or aged cheese.
A family estate rooted in Crouttes-sur-Marne, where biodynamics has shaped champagnes of rare authenticity since 1998.
- Terroir : The silty, clay and marl-limestone soils of the Vallée de la Marne give the wines saline minerality and characteristic tension.
- Winemaking : Low-intervention methods, extended aging on the lees and fermentation in enamel-lined tanks or oak barrels preserve the purity of the fruit.
Tasting notes for Françoise Bedel & Fils Âme de la Terre 2008
– Appearance : Golden color with green highlights, a silky quality and crystal clarity that reveal a chalky depth.
– Nose : Aromas of candied citrus, ripe apple and roasted hazelnut, followed by a saline touch and a hint of acacia honey, all underpinned by stony minerality.
– Palate : A lively, precise opening, where taut acidity meets a creamy texture, while notes of toasted brioche and dried fruit lead to a saline, persistent finish.
Serve at 10–12 °C in a champagne flute or Burgundy white-wine glass to bring out its full complexity.
2008 vintage
