The Guigal Saint-Joseph Vignes de l'Hospice 2004, born on the granitic slopes of Saint-Joseph, is a Syrah wine aged 30 months in new oak barrels. Nose of dark fruits and spices, a powerful palate with silky tannins and chalky minerality. To be enjoyed now with lamb, until 2019.
A family estate rooted in Ampuis since 1946, E. Guigal embodies the excellence of wines from the northern Rhône, where tradition and precision meet.
- Terroir: Granitic soils on the steep slopes of Saint-Joseph, shaping wines of vibrant minerality and rare elegance.
- Vinification: Patient aging in new oak barrels, respecting the pure expression of Syrah and the complexity of great terroirs.
Tasting notes for E. Guigal Saint-Joseph Vignes de l'Hospice 2004 wine
To the eye – A deep red robe with garnet reflections, of a silky density and a brilliance that announces its maturity.
On the nose – First, aromas of wild blackberry and blackcurrant, followed by notes of violet and liquorice, before a mineral, almost chalky touch reveals itself in the background.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and mineral tension, where elegant tannins stretch into a long and saline finish.
Serve at 17 °C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
