The Côte Rôtie La Mouline 1997 by E. Guigal, from old vines on gneissic soils, offers notes of violets and dark fruits. Aged in new oak, its silky texture and minerality make it an ideal wine with lamb, to enjoy through 2015.

A family estate rooted in Ampuis, at the heart of the Rhône Valley, E. Guigal has embodied the excellence of northern Rhône wines since 1946.
- Terroir : Côte-Rôtie, gneissic and siliceous soils of the Côte Blonde, where Viognier flourishes alongside Syrah.
- Winemaking : Extended aging in new oak barrels, respect for old vines and co-fermentation for aromatic harmony.
Tasting notes for E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Mouline 1997
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and mineral brilliance.
On the nose – A bouquet blending fresh violets, ripe vineyard peach, candied blackcurrant, followed by a touch of graphite and a saline note reminiscent of the terroir's schist.
On the palate – A smooth and taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, with a long and elegant finish where soft spices and dark fruits linger.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.

A generous and well-balanced vintage, marked by optimal grape maturity, offering today a harmonious expression between power and finesse.
- Aging potential : At its peak, this wine can still be cellared for 5 to 10 years under ideal conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity).
