The Guigal Ermitage Ex Voto 2007, from the steep slopes of Hermitage, marries Syrah and granite terroir. This wine, aged 42 months in new barrels, reveals notes of blackberry and spices, a taut palate and silky tannins. To be savoured until 2040+ with a truffled leg of lamb or a cheese.
A family estate rooted in Ampuis, the birthplace of the great wines of the Rhône Valley, where three generations have cultivated exacting standards since 1946.
- Terroir: steep hillsides of Hermitage, granite and schist soils, a northern climate shaping Syrahs of rare intensity.
- Vinification: patient aging in new oak barrels, a union of tradition and precision for wines built to age.
Tasting notes for Guigal Ermitage Ex Voto 2007
To the eye – a deep ruby red robe with mauve highlights, dense and luminous, betraying a generous substance and long maturation.
On the nose – aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry intertwine with notes of roasted coffee, liquorice and burnished leather, lifted by a mineral touch of graphite.
On the palate – a silky and velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and saline finish where gentle spices and candied dark fruits mingle.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy-style red wine glass to release its full complexity.
