The Château Montrose 1975, an exceptional Saint-Estèphe, reveals aromas of dark fruits and spices from a gravel terroir. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (32%), it combines silkiness, minerality and freshness on the palate. Perfect with a beef tenderloin or a rack of lamb.
Château Montrose Nestled in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, this family estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for nearly two centuries, classified as a Deuxième Grand Cru in 1855. - Terroir: 95 hectares of vines in a single block, set on deep gravels and clayey sands, shaping wines of remarkable minerality and tension. - Vinification: Traditional methods and hand harvesting, for precise cuvées where the balance between power and elegance takes precedence. Tasting notes for Château Montrose 1975 To the eye: a garnet red robe with tawny highlights, dense and silky, betraying accomplished maturity. On the nose: aromas of candied blackcurrant, wild blackberry and prune mingle with notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and a saline touch, the signature of great gravel terroirs. On the palate: a velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, extends into a long and spiced finish, where hints of liquorice and leather can be detected. Serving temperature: 16–18°C – Bordeaux glass to enhance its complexity. Vintage 1975 A vintage marked by slow ripening and rare balance, where cool nights preserved the tension of the tannins. - Ageing potential: another 10 to 15 years under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
