Nestled at the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, this emblematic estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence for nearly two centuries, combining family tradition and viticultural rigour.
- Terroir : Deep gravel and calcareous clays on the banks of the Gironde, lending the wines a mineral structure and an elegant power, typical of Saint-Estèphe.
- Vinification : A meticulous ageing in oak barrels, respecting the balance between fruit and tannins, for cuvées that are both fleshy and precise.
Tasting notes for Château Montrose 1981
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tile-red hues, dense and slightly veiled by time, revealing a silky texture and generous substance.
On the nose – A complex bouquet where notes of blonde tobacco, candied blackberry, patinated leather and a hint of cedar mingle, lifted by a subtle iodine salinity.
On the palate – A velvety attack, carried by a lively acidity and a tannic framework still present, offering flavours of liquorice, cocoa and a long, mineral and persistent finish.
Serve between 16 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its aromas.
