Personalise your experience
The Dame de Montrose 1993, born on the gravelly soils of Saint-Estèphe, is a wine where Merlot expresses itself with elegance. Dark fruits, spices and velvety tannins compose this second wine, to be enjoyed now or cellared to accompany game and aged cheeses.
Château Montrose
Nestled on the banks of the Gironde, this emblematic estate of Saint-Estèphe has embodied Bordeaux excellence for nearly two centuries, combining family tradition and viticultural precision.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils, bathed by the maritime influence of the estuary, shape wines of powerful structure and distinctive minerality.
- Winemaking: A rigorous selection of grape varieties and a carefully managed ageing in oak barrels reveal the balance between concentration and elegance, the hallmark of the estate.
Tasting notes for Château Montrose Dame de Montrose 1993
To the eye: A garnet red robe with tawny reflections, dense and slightly evolved, betraying generous matter and a silky texture.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and candied blackcurrant intertwine with notes of cedar, golden tobacco and a saline touch, reminiscent of the estuary's sea spray.
On the palate: A fleshy and velvety attack, carried by a lively acidity and tannins still present but melted, gives way to a long and mineral finish, where gentle spices and liquorice intertwine.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1993
A vintage marked by the optimal maturity of the Merlots, offering roundness and depth while retaining the characteristic tension of Saint-Estèphe.
- Ageing potential: Drink now or cellar until 2030 under optimal conditions (cool and humid cellar, away from light).
