Tasting notes for the wine Château Smith Haut Lafitte 1989
To the eye: Deep garnet-red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky and dense texture.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry, cedar, blonde tobacco and forest mushroom, lifted by a saline and chalky touch.
On the palate: Velvety attack, lively acidity and melted tannins, carried by a stony minerality and a long finish with notes of liquorice and undergrowth.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
