The Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2022 from Domaine Louis Michel & Fils, from the Chapelot parcel, combines freshness and minerality. Aged in stainless steel tanks, this Chardonnay with aromas of citrus and flint captivates with its saline tension. Perfect with oysters or fish, it keeps for 5 to 8 years.
A family estate rooted at the heart of Chablis, where tradition meets an unrelenting quest for purity. For three generations, the Michel family has carefully cultivated wines that reflect the chalky soul of their terroir.
- Terroir : The slopes of Chablis, marked by Kimmeridgian soils rich in marine fossils, offer a distinctive minerality to the wines – here, the Chapelot parcel, with full south-facing exposure, embodies the elegance of the Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre.
- Winemaking : Aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the Chardonnay, without oak, in order to reveal a crystalline expression of the fruit and terroir.
To the eye – A pale golden robe, of silky clarity, crossed by green highlights that betray its youth and tension.
On the nose – Aromas of candied lemon and green apple blossom in the foreground, followed by deeper notes of acacia flower and flint, with a saline touch that evokes sea spray.
On the palate – The attack is lively and precise, driven by a taut acidity that rounds into a chalky texture, while flavors of ripe fruit and gentle spices (cinnamon) stretch into a mineral and mouth-watering finish.
Serve between 10 and 12°C in a Burgundy-style white wine glass to fully appreciate its complexity.
A vintage marked by generous maturity, where the summer heat concentrated the fruit without altering the characteristic mineral freshness of Chablis.
- Aging potential : To enjoy now for its youthful brilliance, or to keep for 5 to 8 years in a cool cellar (12-14°C) and away from light to watch its aromas evolve toward more toasted and honeyed notes.
