TASTING NOTES

Discover the tasting notes from the magnificent tasting of last November 16th, dedicated to the Great Mythical Wines!

Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque 1990
Gold, old gold, light orange color
Intense, evolved nose without major oxidation, featuring dried fruits, toasted notes, mushrooms, honey, and candied lemon.
Of great volume and fine complexity, it is rather long even if some bitterness appears on the finish. A wine quite typical of the vintage (volume) and the era (significant dosage).
Vincent Dauvissat Sechet 1er cru 2007
Gold color
Petrol, candied citrus, and honey.
Sustained acidity but on a beautiful body. It disappoints, however, with average complexity and a rather short finish.
Trimbach Clos Sainte Hune 1997
Golden color
Nose of hydrocarbons, candied citrus, cream, stone, and orange peel
Rather linear palate on a creamy and rich register, quite unusual for this cuvée. Aromatic expression fairly restrained at opening but evolves very well in the glass.
1st Intruder - Hatzidakis Pyrgos 2008 - century-old vines from Santorini
Surprising copper color
Nose of quince, apple, marmalade, apricot, and dried fruits
Very high levels of acidity and richness, with phenomenal concentration and well-perceptible tannins for a white wine. The palate is saline over a very great length that finishes clean, with no bitterness whatsoever.
Guigal Côte Rôtie La Turque 2006
Ruby color with a marked evolution
Nose of black fruits, meaty, floral, and vanilla. A silky texture, with aromas of tobacco, black olive, and spices, and a beautiful refreshing acid backbone.
Jean Louis Chave Hermitage 2000
Ruby color with a less marked evolution than the previous wine, even showing some violet hues
Nose of black fruits, graphite, cocoa, liquorice, violet, blackberry, pepper, and some animal notes (more or less perceptible depending on the taster).
Powerful, concentrated, and straight despite a certain restraint on the palate.
2nd intruder - Chateau Latour 1964
Brick-red color, very evolved, hardly surprising given the fill level (high shoulder) of the bottle
Oxidative, smoky, and bloody nose
The palate is less troublesome than the nose, concentrated with still-prominent tannins, with a lingering finish where smoke and precious wood persist.
Comte Georges de Vogüé Bonnes Mares 1999
Ruby color, marked brick-red hues
Nose of blood orange, raspberry, flowers, earth, undergrowth, and leather
The palate shows superb suppleness. The fruit is vibrant. Freshness, concentration, and length are superb. A wine of great pleasure.
Ruby color, slight evolution with even faint purple hues
Floral nose, with soft spices, earth, red and black fruits, still restrained
Splendid balance, tannins still present but of very fine maturity, interminable length even if still restrained.
A mythical vintage at Margaux... The promise is more than fulfilled.
Old gold color
Exotic nose of medlar, pineapple, and mandarin, but a hint of mushroom suggesting a possible appearance of grey rot in this harvest.
Rich but digestible palate, balanced by good acidity even if a slight bitterness appears on the finish.
