Clos des Cistes 2014 from Domaine Peyre Rose, grown on the limestone and clay soils of Saint-Pargoire in the Languedoc, is a beautifully ripe red. A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre, it offers aromas of dark fruit, garrigue herbs and spices, refined by aging in tanks. Its silky texture and chalky minerality meet lively freshness on the palate. Enjoy with red meat or aged cheese.
Nestled in Saint-Pargoire, between Béziers and Montpellier, this Languedoc estate is committed to viticulture that respects the soil and the passage of time.
- Terroir: Poor, well-draining limestone and clay soils shape wines with minerality rarely found in the Languedoc.
- Winemaking: Extended aging in tanks, then in bottles, for wines shaped by patience and precision.
Tasting notes for Domaine Peyre Rose Clos des Cistes 2014
In the glass – Deep ruby with violet highlights, dense and luminous.
On the nose – Fresh blackcurrant and redcurrant first, followed by wild garrigue herbs, gentle spices and a smoky, almost saline touch.
On the palate – Silky yet taut, with lively acidity and a chalky backbone; the long, lingering finish reveals notes of licorice and flint.
Serve at 15–17°C in a Bordeaux-style red wine glass, allowing it to open slightly to release its complex aromas.
