Domaine Auguste Clape
A pillar of the Cornas appellation, this family estate has embodied for five generations the granitic soul of the northern Rhône slopes. An unwavering fidelity to the terroir and traditional methods.
- Terroir: Syrah planted on steep slopes of decomposed granite, between 150 and 300 meters in altitude – poor, well-drained soils that sculpt wines of chalky minerality and vibrant tension.
- Winemaking: Whole-cluster fermentation, aging in old oak foudres – a restrained approach that preserves the purity of the fruit and the saline signature of the terroir.

To the eye: A deep garnet robe with tawny reflections, of a silky density where light diffracts into copper hues.
On the nose: First, aromas of wild blackberry and candied blackcurrant, followed by a touch of Lapsang Souchong smoked tea, then delicate notes of rose petal and faded violet, all lifted by a subtle mineral salinity.
On the palate: A juicy and fleshy attack, where fine tannins trace a peppery framework, while a lively acidity and a chalky minerality extend the finish into a long saline and floral elegance.
Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy glass to fully release its complex aromas.
