Chapelle d'Ausone 2014, the second wine of Château Ausone, draws its elegance from the clay-limestone hillsides of Saint-Émilion. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are blended together to deliver freshness and silky tannins. Minerality and blackcurrant on the palate. To be savoured from 2024 onwards with roasted meats.
Château Ausone
A family estate rooted on the hillsides of Saint-Émilion, where heritage intertwines with a perpetual pursuit of excellence.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone and starfish limestone soils, fully south-facing – a mineral setting that imparts tension and purity to the wines.
- Vinification: Meticulous blending, aging in new oak barrels, and absolute respect for the fruit, resulting in cuvées of rare elegance.
Tasting notes for Chapelle d'Ausone 2014
To the eye: A deep garnet robe with ruby highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance.
On the nose: First aromas of wild blackberry and black cherry, followed by notes of violet and liquorice, before a chalky touch and a saline hint come to underscore the minerality of the terroir.
On the palate: A velvety attack, carried by a lively acidity and a fine tannic structure, where flavours of blackcurrant and soft spices unfold, leading to a long, saline finish of taut elegance.
To be served between 16 and 18°C, in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

A vintage marked by balanced maturity, where freshness and concentration respond to one another in perfect harmony.
- Ageing potential: To be savoured until 2040, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and away from light.
