This Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 1996 from Domaine Leflaive, aged 12 months in barrel, embodies the elegance of the great white wines of Burgundy. Buttery notes, saline minerality and a silky texture make it a wine for cellaring, perfect with lobster or poultry in sauce until 2036.
A cornerstone of Puligny-Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive has embodied Burgundian excellence for four generations, combining family tradition and biodynamic commitment.
- Terroir : Clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune, cradle of Burgundy's most mineral Grand Crus, where Chardonnay expresses its chalky purity.
- Vinification : Gentle pressing, fermentation in French oak barrels (25% new) and patient aging for wines of rare tension and precision.
Tasting notes for Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 1996
To the eye – Golden robe with old-gold highlights, of silky density and a mineral brilliance that hints at a wine already evolved yet still vibrant.
On the nose – Aromas of dried white flowers, toasted hazelnut, acacia honey and flint, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of beeswax.
On the palate – Silky yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that stretches into a saline, remarkably long finish.
Serve at 12–14°C in a Burgundy glass to unlock its full complexity.
Vintage 1996
A vintage marked by slow ripening and preserved acidity, giving the white Grand Crus of Burgundy an ideal structure for extended cellaring.
- Aging potential : Drink until 2036; store in a cool (12–14°C), humid cellar, away from vibrations.
