The Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet 1996, a Grand Cru from Burgundy, is a pure Chardonnay with notes of white flowers and flint. Vinified in oak barrels, it combines a silky palate with vibrant minerality. Perfect until 2036, it pairs beautifully with turbot or sweetbreads with morels.
A cornerstone of Puligny-Montrachet, this family estate has embodied the excellence of Burgundian Grand Crus for generations.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils of the Côte de Beaune, cradle of the greatest Chardonnays, where chalky minerality shapes wines of rare precision.
- Vinification: Biodynamic approach and aging in French oak barrels, combining tradition and purity to reveal the soul of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Leflaive Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru 1996
To the eye – Golden robe with green highlights, of silky density and crystalline brilliance, like a glint of limestone in the light.
On the nose – Aromas of white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) blossom into notes of candied lemon and summer honey, before a saline touch and a hint of petrol reveal its mineral depth.
On the palate – Silky yet taut texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality that stretches into a saline, remarkably long finish.
Serve at 12–14°C in a Burgundy glass to unlock its full complexity.
