From a 0.68-hectare clos in Ambonnay Grand Cru, Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 2006 is a rare Pinot Noir cuvée. Aged 15 years on lees, it combines ripe fruits, spices, and brioche with a chalky minerality. Its silky palate and fine mousse leave a saline finish. To be savored through 2035 with lobster or truffles.
A legendary house founded in 1843, Krug embodies the absolute standard of terroir champagne, where each plot tells a unique story.
- Terroir : A 0.68-hectare clos in Ambonnay, Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims, where Pinot Noir thrives on chalky soils, imparting minerality and depth.
- Vinification : Parcel-by-parcel winemaking, extended aging on lees, and late disgorgement to reveal the purity of the fruit and the complexity of time.
Tasting notes for Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 2006
To the eye – A golden robe with copper highlights, dense and luminous, traversed by a ribbon of fine, persistent bubbles, like liquid silk.
On the nose – First, fresh notes of crisp white fruits and hawthorn blossoms, then deeper aromas of toasted brioche, gentle spices, and candied plum, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of mineral smoke.
On the palate – A full, silky texture, carried by a lively and precise acidity, where flavors of ripe stone fruits, buttery pastry, and a chalky minerality intertwine, leading to a long, saline, and subtly iodized finish.
Serve between 9°C and 12°C in a Champagne flute or a white wine glass to bring out its full complexity.
Vintage 2006
A generous and well-balanced vintage, where the ripeness of the fruit meets a mineral freshness, offering a harmonious expression of the Ambonnay terroir.
- Aging potential : To be enjoyed now through 2035 and beyond, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) away from light.
