The Château Palmer 1993, a jewel of Margaux, reveals gravelly soils. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot unveils blackcurrant, spices and flowers, aged 20 months in barrels. Silky, mineral palate with melted tannins. Ideal with roasted leveret or game.
Nestled at the heart of the Margaux appellation, this classified estate embodies the alliance of a Bordeaux heritage and pioneering organic viticulture.
- Terroir: The gravelly and clay-limestone soils of Margaux, bathed by oceanic influence, bestow upon the wines a mineral elegance and a refined tension.
- Vinification: A bold blend in which Merlot, often dominant, dialogues with Cabernet Sauvignon through precise ageing in oak barrels, yielding cuvées that are both full-bodied and silky.
To the eye – A garnet red robe with brick-tinged reflections, of velvety density, betraying three decades of harmonious maturation.
On the nose – First, aromas of candied black cherry and ripe blackcurrant, followed by a touch of soft liquorice, then damp undergrowth and wilted violet, all lifted by a subtle chalky salinity.
On the palate – A silky texture envelops a lively and precise acidity, carried by melted yet still present tannins, while a graphite minerality stretches into a long, spiced finish where notes of blonde tobacco and cedar emerge.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by early ripeness and a rare balance between fruity concentration and freshness, typical of the years when Margaux expresses its full finesse.
- Ageing potential: At its peak today, this wine can still be cellared for 5 to 10 years under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
