From the gravelly soils of Pauillac, Château Pichon-Longueville Baron 2005 blends Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) and Merlot into a complex wine. Notes of blackcurrant, tobacco and cedar, aged in new oak, with a lively palate and silky tannins. Ideal until 2050 with game or aged cheeses.
A legendary estate in Pauillac, classified as a Deuxième Cru in 1855, where uncompromising standards and an exceptional terroir shape wines of timeless elegance.
- Terroir: Gravelly and clay-limestone soils of Pauillac, bathed by the influence of the Gironde estuary, lending the wines a distinctive minerality and refined structure.
- Vinification: Meticulous blending, aged in new oak barrels for a harmony between power and finesse, respecting the identity of the vintage.
In the glass: A deep red robe with garnet reflections, of a silky density and crystalline brilliance, already revealing the maturity and concentration of the wine.
On the nose: A generous bouquet where ripe blackcurrant, candied black cherry, notes of blond tobacco and cedar intertwine, lifted by a mineral hint of graphite and a touch of liquorice.
On the palate: A broad and velvety attack, carried by polished tannins and a lively acidity, while a chalky minerality and subtle saltiness extend a remarkably long finish, where aromas of dark fruits and gentle spices unfold.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to fully release its expression.
A sun-drenched and well-balanced vintage, marked by optimal grape maturity, yielding a wine that is both powerful and of rare elegance.
- Aging potential: 30 to 40 years under ideal storage conditions (stable temperature, controlled humidity, and absence of light).
