The Château Mouton Rothschild 1988, from Pauillac, expresses the nobility of the gravels. This barrel-aged wine offers notes of blackcurrant, cedar and tobacco, with a touch of vanilla. Its palate, firm and velvety, combines minerality and length. Ideal with red meats or game.
A symbol of Bordeaux excellence, this iconic estate has embodied the alliance between viticultural tradition and artistic audacity since the 18th century.
- Terroir: Located in the heart of Pauillac, its well-drained gravelly soils, bathed by the Gironde estuary, lend the wines a mineral structure and an unrivalled elegance.
- Vinification: A meticulous blend of noble grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc), aged in oak barrels for aromatic complexity and long ageing.
Tasting notes for Château Mouton Rothschild Mouton Rothschild 1988
To the eye: A deep garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density, betraying an accomplished maturity and a velvety texture.
On the nose: First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and wild blackberry, followed by notes of cedar and blonde tobacco, then a touch of toasted vanilla and dried flowers, all lifted by a subtle chalky minerality.
On the palate: A frank and precise attack, where the melted but still present tannins balance with a lively acidity and a long finish, marked by nuances of liquorice and leather, on a mineral and saline foundation.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.

- Ageing potential: To be enjoyed until 2030, provided it is stored in a cool cellar (12–14°C) and kept away from light.
