From the clay-limestone soils of Saint-Émilion, Château Valandraud 2000 (Premier Grand Cru Classé B) blends Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%). Notes of dark fruits, cedar and coffee, aged in oak barrels. Velvety palate with a liquorice finish. To enjoy with game or cheeses until 2030.
Nestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion, this estate embodies the boldness and precision of a family vineyard established in 1989. A story where terroir and innovation redefine Bordeaux excellence.
- Terroir : Clay-limestone and gravel soils from the hillsides of Saint-Émilion, where Merlot and Cabernet Franc draw their minerality and depth.
- Vinification : Aging in new oak barrels, measured extraction and respect for balance – a signature that is both powerful and elegant.
Tasting notes for Château Valandraud Valandraud 2000
- To the eye : Crimson robe with dense reflections, of saturated intensity where light barely penetrates, revealing a silky and velvety texture.
- On the nose : First the tart freshness of raspberry, then cedar and cigar box, before roasted espresso and candied dark fruits take hold, all underscored by a saline and chalky touch.
- On the palate : A round and fleshy attack, melted yet present tannins, carried by a mineral tension that leads to a long finish where bitter chocolate, liquorice, and a hint of graphite intertwine.
Serve between 17 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its complex aromas.
Vintage 2000
A sunny and generous vintage, where the ripeness of the grapes met the discipline of a controlled aging process, yielding a wine that is both opulent and precise.
- Aging potential : To be cellared until 2030–2035 in a cellar with a stable temperature (12–14°C) and controlled humidity.
