Pioneer of biodynamics in Champagne
Champagne Franck Pascal, located in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, is an essential reference for lovers of natural and biodynamic Champagnes. By combining ancestral know-how with modern practices that respect the living world, Franck and Isabelle Pascal offer exceptional cuvées, imbued with remarkable purity and energy.
The history of the Franck Pascal estate goes back several generations. Jean Pascal, Franck's grandfather, left his mark on the viticultural landscape of Baslieux-sous-Châtillon by co-founding the local wine cooperative, which he presided over for 24 years. In 1986, Franck's father left this organization to become a grower-producer, laying the foundations for the estate's independence.
Franck Pascal, an engineer by training, returned in 1994 to take over the family's 3.5 hectares and transform this estate into a model of environmentally responsible viticulture. Sensitized to the effects of chemical products through his military experience, he quickly initiated a transition to organic viticulture as early as 1997. In 2002, he took a decisive step by adopting the principles of biodynamics across the entire estate. With the arrival of Isabelle, a microbiologist and passionate advocate of energy therapies, the estate integrated innovative practices inspired by naturopathy and soil energy management.
Today, with 7.5 hectares of vines spread across 44 plots, Champagne Franck Pascal embodies Champenois excellence and the vanguard of natural wines.
Located on the right bank of the Marne Valley, Franck Pascal's vineyard benefits from terroirs of exceptional richness. The flint clay and millstone soils give the grapes a unique minerality and complexity. The region, particularly well suited to Pinot Meunier, offers an ideal setting for low but high-quality yields, averaging 8,000 kg/hectare.
The plots, cultivated without herbicides or pesticides for over 20 years, are carefully plowed, promoting deep rooting of the vines and the preservation of water balance. Each vine is tended according to the principles of biodynamics, using natural preparations that stimulate microbial life and strengthen the plants' natural defenses.
This living terroir, enriched by personalized composts, guarantees grapes of exceptional purity. The estate's energetic practices also ensure an invisible yet essential harmony between the soils, the vines, and their environment.
The estate's philosophy is rooted in a natural and minimalist approach to winemaking. Franck Pascal uses exclusively indigenous yeasts to ferment his wines, favoring natural processes in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the typicity of the terroir.
Innovation is at the heart of his work in the cellar. Drawing on methods inspired by energy therapies, Franck guides the natural yeasts and bacteria to achieve precise and stable fermentations. Every step, from pressing to aging, is designed to express the unique potential of the grapes while respecting their integrity.
The estate's champagnes are vinified without dosage or with limited additions, revealing an unmatched freshness, elegance, and mineral tension. The temperature-controlled vat room and modernized storage facilities guarantee perfect control throughout the process.
The estate offers a range of authentic champagnes, crafted to deliver unique emotions with every tasting.
