Domaine Auguste Clape
A pioneer of the Cornas appellation, this family estate has embodied for three generations the granitic soul of the steep hillsides of the Northern Rhône.
- Terroir: Vineyards rooted in decomposed granite soils, shaping Syrahs of chalky minerality and unique tension.
- Vinification: Traditional method – whole clusters, aged in used foudres – for a pure and unadulterated expression of the Syrah grape variety.
Tasting notes for Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2020
In the glass: A deep violet robe with dense, almost silky reflections in its intensity.
On the nose: Aromas of wild blackberry and blood blueberry intertwine with notes of fresh violet, graphite and a saline hint reminiscent of wet schist.
On the palate: A broad and fleshy attack, tight tannins with fine grain, lively acidity and chalky minerality that carry a long, saline finish.
Serve at 16–18°C in a Burgundy glass to reveal its full complexity.
