The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2016 from Étienne Sauzet captivates with its nose of white flowers and anise. This Chardonnay, born on chalky soils, combines vibrant freshness with notes of yellow fruits on the palate. An elegant wine, ideal with shellfish, to be enjoyed until 2029.
Nestled in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, this family estate has embodied the excellence of great white Burgundy wines for nearly a century.
- Terroir: Clay-limestone soils and marls on the Folatières hillside, where Chardonnay flourishes into a mineral and refined expression.
- Vinification: Aged in oak barrels (20–30% new) for preserved tension, without artifice, revealing the purity of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Domaine Étienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2016
In the glass: A golden robe with green reflections, of silky clarity and chalky density.
On the nose: Aromas of white flowers (hawthorn, acacia) intertwine with notes of anise and candied lemon, followed by a saline touch and a hint of flint.
On the palate: A lively and precise attack, carried by taut acidity and chalky minerality; the silky texture gives way to a long finish, where ripe quince and gentle spices mingle.
Serve between 12 and 14°C in a Burgundy glass to fully express its complexity.
Vintage 2016
A vintage marked by frost, where scarcity concentrated the terroir's expression without altering its elegance.
- Aging potential: To be enjoyed until 2029, in cool cellar conditions (12–14°C) and away from light.
