The Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche 2023 by Joseph Drouhin, Grand Cru from Burgundy, sourced from the chalky soils of Montrachet. This Chardonnay, aged in barrels (30% new), reveals aromas of white flowers and roasted almonds. On the palate, it combines tension and silkiness, with a mineral finish. To be enjoyed over 8 to 15 years, ideal with lobster or poultry in a creamy sauce.
A family house founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin embodies Burgundian excellence – a heritage of precision and respect for the terroir.
- Terroir: the Montrachet vines, straddling Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, flourish on chalky and limestone soils, bathed in a south-east exposure that refines the minerality of the Chardonnay.
- Winemaking: whole-cluster pressing, patient ageing in French oak barrels (30% new) for more than two winters – a method that preserves the purity of the fruit while sculpting a silky texture.
To the eye: a golden robe with green highlights, of a crystalline clarity and an unctuousness that heralds a wine of rare elegance.
On the nose: lily of the valley and peach blossom unfold into fresh notes, followed by ripe exotic fruits, acacia honey and a saline touch reminiscent of the limestone pebbles of the terroir.
On the palate: a precise and taut attack, where pastry cream, roasted almond and a chalky minerality intertwine – the tangy tension carries a finish of saline length and persistence.
Serve between 14 and 15 °C in a Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
A vintage marked by balanced ripeness, where freshness and concentration respond to each other in harmony.
- Ageing potential: store for 15 to 20 years in a cool, humid cellar, away from vibrations.
