Joseph Drouhin presents this Corton-Charlemagne 2023, a white Grand Cru with notes of flowers, almond and citrus, from the calcareous slopes of Aloxe-Corton. Aged in oak barrels, it offers a broad and mineral palate, ideal with fine fish and aged cheeses.
A family house founded in 1880, Joseph Drouhin embodies Burgundian rigour through four generations of expertise. Rooted in the Côte de Beaune, it combines respect for the terroir with artisanal precision.
- Terroir : The Corton-Charlemagne vines flourish on brown calcareous soils, scattered with pebbles, between Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix-Serrigny and Pernand-Vergelesses – a mineral setting that lends the Chardonnay its tension and purity.
- Vinification : Ageing for 18 to 21 months in French oak barrels (30% new), for a harmony between woody structure and fruity freshness, without ever masking the expression of the terroir.
To the eye – A golden robe with green highlights, of a silky density, like a ray of sunlight captured in the glass.
On the nose – Aromas of rose blossom and fresh almond, followed by candied citrus fruits, acacia honey and a saline touch reminiscent of the coastal winds, all enveloped in a discreet note of exotic wood.
On the palate – A broad and generous attack, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality; the texture, both rich and taut, extends into a long, precise finish where yellow fruits and spices intertwine.
Serve at 14 °C in a large, wide-mouthed Burgundy glass to release its full complexity.
A rare balance between sun-drenched ripeness and mineral freshness, the signature of a year in which the climate preserved the tension of the Chardonnay.
- Ageing potential : To be kept for 8 to 15 years in a cool (12-14 °C) and humid cellar, to evolve towards deeper notes of truffle and flint.
