Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1971
To the eye: A garnet robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density and a brilliance subtly softened by time.
On the nose: Delicate aromas of dried blackcurrant, aged cedar, blonde tobacco and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Velvety texture, melted but still present tannins, lively acidity and chalky minerality, leading to a long and harmonious finish marked by notes of dark fruits and gentle spices.
Serve at 16-18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
Vintage 1971
A discreet yet greatly refined vintage, where the climatic balance allowed for an ideal ripening of the grapes.
- Aging potential: Drink now or cellar for a few more years under optimal conditions (cool cellar, away from light and vibrations).
