The Château Lafite Rothschild 1985, Premier Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, expresses its clay-gravel terroir. From Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this vintage unveils notes of cedar and blackcurrant, aged in oak barrels. Fresh and elegant, it pairs with a rib of beef until 2036.
Nestled in the heart of Pauillac, this legendary estate has embodied Bordeaux excellence since 1868, under the stewardship of the Rothschild family.
- Terroir : Clay-gravel soils, bathed by the influence of the Gironde estuary, sculpt wines of rare elegance and distinctive minerality.
- Vinification : Manual harvesting, plot-by-plot fermentation and ageing in French oak barrels for a pure and precise expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1985
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density, revealing a substance that is at once generous and of great finesse.
On the nose – First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and violet, followed by notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and a saline touch, like a sea breeze over damp undergrowth.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and elegant finish, where gentle spices and candied dark fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
