Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1985
To the eye – A garnet red robe with tawny highlights, of a silky density, revealing a substance that is at once generous and of great finesse.
On the nose – First aromas of ripe blackcurrant and violet, followed by notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and a saline touch, like a sea breeze over damp undergrowth.
On the palate – A velvety texture, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, stretching into a long and elegant finish, where gentle spices and candied dark fruits intertwine.
Serve at 16°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
