- Terroir: Deep gravelly soils and limestone subsoil of Pauillac, where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives under a temperate oceanic climate, lending the wine its mineral structure and elegance.
- Vinification: Hand harvesting, plot-by-plot fermentation, and 18 months of aging in new oak barrels for a precise and refined expression of the terroir.
Tasting notes for Château Lafite Rothschild 1973
To the eye: Garnet red robe with brick-tinged reflections, of silky density and crystalline clarity.
On the nose: Aromas of ripe blackcurrant intertwine with notes of cedar, blonde tobacco and undergrowth, lifted by a saline touch and a hint of graphite.
On the palate: Velvety texture, supple yet still present tannins, lively acidity and chalky minerality carrying a long, persistent finish marked by hints of licorice and candied black fruits.
Serve between 16 and 18°C in a Bordeaux glass to release its full complexity.
