The Cristal Brut 2007 Magnum from Louis Roederer, sourced from the chalky soils of Champagne, is a vintage champagne of great precision. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it reveals aromas of pear, honey, and toasted hazelnuts. The palate, silky and mineral, captivates with its freshness and length. To the eye: A golden robe with warm, slightly orange hues, traversed by a ribbon of fine, persistent bubbles, heralding a silky texture.
On the nose: An aromatic symphony where candied Williams pear, tangy redcurrant, and crispy tarte Tatin mingle, followed by deeper notes of acacia honey, toasted hazelnuts, and a saline hint of flint.
On the palate: A velvety, almost opulent attack, carried by a lively acidity and a chalky minerality, before a long, taut finish where nuances of cocoa and a subtle, refined bitterness emerge.
Serve between 8 and 10°C in a tall, narrow champagne flute to preserve the fineness of the bubbles.
